The "Perfect Store" - best practice merchandising

Planograms are essential for optimising biscuit displays in-store. By strategically placing best-sellers at eye level, using eye-catching POS materials, and grouping similar brands together, retailers can boost sales.

It is very important to use planograms when displaying biscuits in-store. This helps optimise space in the store, while helping the shopper find what they need quickly and easily.

Placing key brands in noticeable spots to guide shoppers and make their shopping easier. When shoppers see a popular brand, it helps them find their way around.

Here are some key basics to follow...

Best sellers

Best-sellers should be at eye level (1.2-1.4 meters from the ground) because people usually look slightly downward. Products outside of this field of vision tend to go unnoticed. Placing these products higher on the shelf maximises sales potential, encourages trading up and drives impulse purchasing. Similarly, treat items should be placed higher up to take advantage of their impulsive nature. If shoppers don't see it, they won't buy it.

Children's biscuits

Children's biscuits should be placed near the bottom of the shelf, at their eye level, to attract attention at kids’ eyeline. Store-brand products should also be placed at the bottom to discourage customers from choosing cheaper options. Price-conscious shoppers will still find these items, so they don't need to be in highly visible spots.

The importance of POS

To increase visibility, it's important to have eye-catching point-of-sale materials (like shelf strips, aisle signs, header cards, and floor displays). Retailers should group similar brands together to make the shelves easier to navigate and display best-sellers prominently, while also offering a wide range of popular products.
